Tracing a history of vine cultivation pre-dating the Renaissance to the XI century, the Contucci family is notably established as a leading family of Montepulciano. The historic cellars are located via the main square of Montepulciano and were constructed under a palace once home to Pope Julius III.
Sixteen hectares of well-situated vineyards lie just south of town and thrive with historic plantings of Sangiovese and numerous local varieties. With a robust commitment to balancing tradition while allowing for innovation, the winery proudly offers highly esteemed bottlings of Vino Nobile, Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, Vin Santo DOCG as well as spirited whites.

Earthy and elegant, this offers aromas of mature black-skinned berry, pressed rose petal and leather along with a whiff of game. Reflecting the nose, the linear, savory palate evokes dried cherry, raspberry compote, licorice and charcuterie alongside a hint of black tea. Taut, polished tannins and fresh acidity provide support. Give it time to fully develop. Drink 2020–2030. KERIN O’KEEFE
