Perched atop the limestone-rich plateau of Sagrado in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Castelvecchio Winery has been a beacon of viticultural excellence since 1750.
Owned by the Tarraneo family since the 1980's, this historic estate spans 120 hectares, with 35 hectares dedicated to organically farmed vineayrds nestled within a natural park, overlooking the Alps to the north and the Adriatic Sea to the South.
The unique Karst terroir - characterized by red earth and calcareous rock - imparts a distinct minerality to Castelvecchio's wines. The estate cultivates both indigenous and international grape varieties, including Vitovska, Malvasia, Istriana, Terrano, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Castelvecchio is renowned for its harmonious blend of tradition, innovation, sustainable winemaking practices, and the unique characteristics of their wines from the Karst region.
